Cécile C. Remy

My studies focus on the interactions between climate, fire and vegetation dynamics. During my international joint PhD (Canada-France), the primary focus of my work was to define and explain boreal forest landscape shifts during the past 8,000 years. I used paleoecological proxies sequestered in lacustrine sediments to reconstruct the vegetation (pollen grains) and the fire regimes (charcoal), and General Circulation Model outputs to reconstruct the past climate variations. After my PhD, my aims were to calibrate the Canadian Fire Weather Index (FWI) in boreal forests of Eurasia and understand the consequences of the climate changes on the different fire regimes across these boreal forests. Currently, I use modelling to understand the interaction of climate change and wildfire on post-fire forest recovery in the landscapes of the northern New Mexico.
